Studio available
Invitation to join
Below is some information for those interested in joining an incredible working studio in Naarm– North Melbourne. The studio suits visual artists including painters. The tenancy is shared with photo scanning studio, Format Scan and one artist, myself: Piers Greville. Should you be interested in seeing the space in person or have any other questions, please email piersgreville@gmail.com or direct message on Instagram @piers_grevilleThe space
The entire studio floor area is 124m² with 3.5m high ceilings. Ground floor is 90m² with bathroom and a wet area with a wide sink. Stairs lead up to a narrow mezzanine around the north and west walls. The mezzanine area is 33.82m². Access is via the shopfront on Queensberry Street, however for large items, the roller door to the street has a 3m height clearance, enough space to drive a small truck in. There’s also a doorway from the studio to the back alley.
Good natural light floods the the room during the day via the skylights, and is lit evenly by fluorescent light banks at night.
Proposed workspace arrangement
Currently looking for two artists, photographers or makers to share with two currently in place. The studio arrangement is negotiable, the proposed set up is three dedicated zones (a, b, c, on the Studio plan – right) around a central shared area in front of a high wall. The surrounding spaces include under-mezzanine lighting and provide a dedicated zone of roughly 17m² for each of the three practitioners. This arrangement provides opportunity for generating and displaying large large work , and allows generous space for temporary staging of body movement, modelling, spatial studies and large scale wall work. The mezzanine is shared, an elongated L shaped area with a low ceiling, useful for storage and additional desk space.
